Because honey is broken down nectar, its simple sugars (glucose and fructose) are digested much easier than table sugar (sucrose). This makes honey an anti-inflammatory food, while sugar is known to cause inflammation. So, eating a regulated amount of honey can help prevent disease and optimize digestion.

Honey is a superfood that possesses at least 181 components which give it its high nutritional value. Sugar is nothing but a sweetener that is hard to digest.

Honey does have more calories per tablespoon than white sugar. However, it happens to have more sweetening power so much less of it is required for use. So, honey positively influences your weight when consumed intentionally as an additive to tea, baked goods, and other meals.

Honey also helps sustain healthy blood sugar concentrations for endurance training and it is advised that you take a spoonful before your workout. So, honey is one of those “good” carbs that you should include in your diet for peak athletic performance and an overall enhanced health and wellness.
