Honey-Glazed Turkey with Sage and Roasted Garlic

Ekaterina Yusupova

Your roasted turkey will be the star of the show once you add this delicious glaze. The honey’s natural contents will help brown and crisp the skin to perfection. Your taste buds are in for a treat!

Ingredients (12 servings):

  • 1 turkey, 12 to 16 lb., neck and giblets removed, reserved if desired
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 2 fresh rosemary sprigs
  • 4 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 4 Tbs. (1/2 stick) (2 oz.) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 6 to 8 fresh sage leaves

  • 1 cup (12 oz.) honey
  • 8 Tbs. (1 stick) (4 oz.) unsalted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, grated
  • 2 tsp. minced fresh sage
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper

Let the turkey stand at room temperature for 1 hour. Preheat the oven at 350°F and season the turkey inside and out with salt and pepper. Add rosemary, garlic cloves and lemon halves inside the turkey and spread butter over the breast and under the skin, where you can slide a few sage leaves. For the glaze, you will need to combine honey and butter over medium heat in a pan for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then, add the grated garlic and sage with salt and pepper. After 1 hour of roasting, start to brush the turkey with your glaze every 20 minutes for another 2 ½ to 3 ½ hours. If the skin browns too quickly, tent it with aluminum foil. Transfer the turkey to a platter and cover loosely with aluminum foil for 20 minutes.

TIP: Use an instant-read thermometer and insert it into the thickest part of the breast, away from the bone. If it registers 165°F you will need to cook it 1 ½ hours to 2 ½ hours more.
